A price list with a row for each breed

A breed matrix is your price list turned into a grid: one row per breed, one column per service, and in each cell two numbers, how long the groom takes and what you charge. It is the breed chart taped up by your table, and your booking page quotes from it too.

A client booking a Shih Tzu gets the time and price from the Shih Tzu row. If the next client books a Standard Poodle, FurSlot blocks a longer slot at a higher price without you touching anything, and the quote no longer depends on who answered the phone.

Other booking tools let you build a breed price table. FurSlot arrives with one already filled in, so you start by checking the numbers rather than typing prices for 243 breeds.

The preloaded prices and how to change them

A new shop starts with three services, Bath and Brush, Full Groom and Nail Trim, priced for all 243 breeds, including the doodles and crosses clients book by name and Mixed Breed rows by size and coat. You can browse them on the grooming price by breed pages.

Starting times and prices, worked out from size and coat

Each breed carries a size and a grooming difficulty, from a wash-and-wear coat that needs a bath, dry and nails, up to a hand-strip or a curly coat that needs a full clip and scissoring. The Full Groom time and price come from one table crossing the two. Bath and Brush starts at about 70 percent of that, and Nail Trim is 15 minutes and $15 for all breeds.

Editing a cell, and repricing a whole column at once

On the matrix screen each cell is its own box: type new minutes or a new price and FurSlot saves it. You can search by breed or filter by size to find the row.

If your prices run higher or lower across the board, the services screen in setup shows the middle price and time for each service. Change that one number and all the breeds in the column move by the same proportion, so a Maltese still costs less than a Standard Poodle, at your rates.

Quoting a mix of two breeds

Plenty of dogs are a mix of two breeds. On your booking page the client can tick “My dog is a mix of two breeds” and pick the second breed. FurSlot quotes the mix by averaging the two parents’ time and price for that service, and tells the client you confirm the final price when you see the coat.

A client who does not know the mix picks a Mixed Breed row, in four sizes, each in a short-coat and a long-or-curly-coat version. Common crosses that clients book by name, like the Goldendoodle and the Cavapoo, have rows of their own, and FurSlot quotes them from those rows without blending.

Booking time for a matted coat

Your booking page also has the client pick the coat’s condition today: brushed and maintained, normal regrowth, or matted and long overdue. That choice changes the time FurSlot books and leaves the price alone. FurSlot books a maintained coat at 0.85 of the usual time and a matted one at 1.75 times, rounded to five minutes with a 15-minute minimum, so a matted doodle does not run into the next dog on your day.

The quote stays at the breed price, and FurSlot shows a client who picks matted a note that you quote de-matting in person. Things the breed matrix does not cover

• No add-ons at booking. The flat-rate extras listed on the matrix screen, such as ear cleaning, are display text. Clients cannot pick them and you cannot edit them.
• No extra services. You get Bath and Brush, Full Groom and Nail Trim. You can switch one off during setup, but there is no way to add a fourth.
• No de-matting or de-shed charge. A matted coat adds time to the booking, and you decide any extra charge at the table.
• No packages, prepaid bundles or memberships for your clients.
• No local price adjustment. The starting numbers come from one national table, and you move them to your market yourself.

How the breed prices behave

How do I charge different prices for different size dogs without doing it by hand?

FurSlot does it by breed. Each breed already carries a size and a coat difficulty, and its time and price come from those, so a small dog and a giant one start at different prices from day one. You change only the numbers you disagree with, one cell at a time or a whole column during setup.

What if a dog is a mix, like a poodle doodle?

Many crosses already have their own row, including the Goldendoodle, Labradoodle, Bernedoodle and Cavapoo, with Mini versions of the big doodles. For any other mix, the client picks both breeds and FurSlot averages the two for time and price. If the client does not know the mix, they can pick a Mixed Breed row by size and coat. You confirm the final price when you see the dog.

Can I change every price, or only some?

All of them. Each breed and service has its own minutes and price on the matrix screen, and a change saves as soon as you make it. Existing shops kept all the prices they had set when FurSlot revised its starting numbers in September 2026.

Why does a curly coat cost more than a Labrador's?

Because grooming time depends more on the coat than on the size. A Labrador needs a bath, a good brush-out and a dry, while a curly coat needs a full clip and scissoring.
