01
I just signed up. What is the very first thing to do?
Set your town and timezone, because everything else leans on it. Go to Settings, fill in City and Timezone, and press Save. Get this wrong and every reminder goes out an hour early or late, which is the one mistake clients actually notice. Fifteen seconds, and you never touch it again.
02
I cannot log back in. What am I doing wrong?
Nine times out of ten it is the email. You have to type the whole address, including the part after the @. Typing just the first half looks right and will never work. Use the same address you signed up with, which is not always the one you normally email from. Forgotten the password? Use Forgot password on the sign-in page and check that same inbox, spam folder included. After your password we send a six digit code to that inbox too. That is normal rather than another error, and it only asks once per computer.
03
How do I get my client list in without typing it all again?
Two ways, and you can mix them. If your book is on paper, put it in a spreadsheet with a column for each of these, spelled exactly like this: Client name, Phone, Pet name, Breed, Notes. Save it as a CSV, then go to Clients and Import CSV and upload it. Everything lands in one go. Coming from other software? Export from there and upload that file as it is. The importer reads the usual column names on its own, so "Owner" or "Customer" works just as well as "Client name".
04
Can it bring my appointments across too, not just the names?
Yes. Add two more columns, Date and Time, and every row becomes a real booking on your calendar. Write dates the way you normally would: "Tue, Sep 1, 2026" and "9/1/2026" both read fine. A slot written as "10:00 AM - 10:30 AM" counts as one appointment, not two. Upload the same file twice by accident and nothing doubles up. Anything it cannot read with certainty it leaves alone and tells you about, rather than guessing at a date and booking a dog on the wrong day.
05
Every dog says "Breed not set". Does that matter?
It matters more than anything else on this page. FurSlot works out how long a groom takes and what to charge from the breed, so a dog with no breed has no time and no price attached to it. Fix it in either of two places. For one dog: open Clients, click the dog's name, use the breed box under their name, start typing to narrow the list, and press Save breed. For the whole book at once: add a Breed column to your spreadsheet and upload it again. That fills every blank and leaves anything you already corrected by hand exactly as it is.
06
How do clients actually book me?
You get one link and it does the booking for you. Find it in Settings under Share your booking page and press Copy link. Put it in your Instagram bio, send it in a text, add it to your Google listing. Clients pick the dog, the service and a free slot themselves, day or night, and it lands on your calendar without a phone call. The price they see comes from your own breed matrix, so it is your pricing rather than ours.
07
Why did my clients not get a reminder?
Almost always because we have no way to reach them. A reminder goes by text only if that client has a mobile number and has agreed to texts, and by email only if you have an email address for them. A client brought over from paper usually has neither. Open the dog's page and look at the Owner box: add a mobile, add an email, and tick the consent box if they have told you texts are fine. An email address on its own is enough to get a reminder out. Worth knowing: agreeing to texts belongs to a phone number, so changing someone's number resets it until they say yes again.
08
Do I have to take deposits?
No, and everything else works without them. Deposits and no-show fees are the one part that needs Stripe, the company that actually moves the money. Connect it from Settings, have your bank details and a photo ID to hand, and give it about five minutes. Until then you can take bookings, run your calendar and send reminders, you just cannot hold a card. Once it is on, deposits land in your own Stripe account. We never sit in the middle of your money and we never take a cut of a groom.
09
Can I see my bookings in the calendar on my phone?
Yes, and it keeps itself up to date. In Settings find Google Calendar and press Copy feed URL, then add it as a subscribed calendar in Google Calendar, Apple Calendar or Outlook. New bookings turn up on their own and there is nothing to export again. Treat that link like a password, because anyone holding it can read your schedule.
10
Someone booked over the phone. How do I add it myself?
From your dashboard use Add appointment. Search for the dog if they are already on file, or add a walk-in and the owner and pet save into your book at the same time. It behaves like any other booking from there, reminder included.
11
I made a mess. How do I fix or remove something?
A client added twice, or a test entry from when you were first poking around, can go. Open Clients and press Delete on their row. That takes their dogs and their appointment history with them and cannot be undone, so it asks you to confirm the name first. One deliberate exception: a client with a deposit still being held cannot be deleted until that money is settled, so a refund never loses its paper trail.
12
What happens when the free trial ends?
Your trial runs 14 days from the day you signed up, and we email you before it ends rather than letting it catch you out. Nothing is deleted when it does. Your clients, pets, appointments and your whole breed matrix stay exactly as you left them, and choosing a plan switches everything back on straight away.
Still stuck on something?
Email hello@furslot.com and say what you were trying to do when it went wrong. A person reads it. If it is quicker to show you than to type it, we will call you.
