How to fill it in

1. Start with the service you sell most. For most shops that is the full groom, so set those prices first, one for each size.
2. Set bath and brush from the full groom. Many shops price it at about 70 percent of the full groom rather than timing it on its own.
3. Keep nail trims flat. A single nail trim price for all sizes is normal and easy to explain.
4. Use the note line for the rules. Write something like "Starting prices; we price matted coats and dogs who need extra handling on the day," and you will head off most arguments at pickup.
5. Print it, and put the same numbers on your website and in your replies to "how much?" messages.

Where the starting numbers come from

The starting prices come from FurSlot's own base table, which we built in September 2026 from real US salon price lists. The table prices a full groom by size and by how much work the coat needs, from a wash-and-wear coat to one that needs a full clip and scissoring:

• Small: $45 for a wash-and-wear coat, $50 with a brush-out, $65 for a full haircut, $70 for a curly or silky coat.
• Medium: $55, $60, $75 and $85.
• Large: $60, $70, $85 and $120.
• Extra large: $75, $90, $120 and $150.

Bath and brush starts at 70 percent of the full groom, and a nail trim at $15. Treat all of it as a starting point to adjust for your town, since the same dog can cost half again as much, or more, in the next town over. Check the numbers against shops near you and against your own clock.

When a four-size list stops being enough

Most shops start with a size list, and it works until the doodles arrive. Two dogs of the same size can spend very different amounts of time on your table, yet on a size chart you charge them the same. Before you print the price list

What should a dog grooming price list include?

List your main services with a price for each size, a flat nail trim price, your common extras, and one line saying prices are starting prices that can change with coat condition or handling. Add your shop name and how to book. Keep it to one page so a client can read it in the time it takes to decide.

Should I put prices on my website?

Yes, post them as starting prices, because a client who can see your prices has no need to message you "how much?" before booking, and clients hunting for a price you do not want to match will look elsewhere. Say "starting at" and note that you price matting and extra handling on the day, so the number on the page does not become a promise you cannot keep.

How do I price add-ons?

Price each one by the minutes it adds, at your hourly rate, then round to a number clients can remember. A 15-minute job at $60 an hour is $15. List them as flat prices unless the time varies a lot, as it does with dematting, which you are better off charging by the minute. What do I do about dogs that do not fit a size bracket?

Put the dog in the bracket whose work it matches, even when its weight on the day would put it in another. A small dog with a heavy curly coat can take as long as a medium one.
