A report card for the owner after every groom

Updated 17 October 2026

After a groom, you can send the owner a short visit report: how the dog behaved, what you noticed in the coat and skin, a note in your own words, and when to bring the dog back. FurSlot emails it for your shop with a button that opens your booking page.

What goes in a visit report

The report opens from a finished appointment, on the appointment page or from the Finished tab of In the Shop. Fill in as much or as little as you like:

  • How the dog did. One choice from Relaxed, Happy, Wiggly, Playful, Nervous, or Needed extra patience.
  • Coat and skin. Tick any that apply: No concerns, Shedding, Tangles or matting, Dry or irritated skin, Hot spots, Ear buildup, Long nails.
  • A note to the owner. Up to 1,000 characters in your own words, printed in the email.
  • Next visit. In 4, 6, 8, 10 or 12 weeks, or no recommendation.

Under the note sits a row of ready phrases you tap to add, for a dog that was unsure at first and then settled, nails that were long, or matting that meant going a little shorter. They save typing the same sentence after every groom, and you can edit them once they are in the box. Anything private belongs in the groom notes instead, which the owner never sees.

The email the owner gets

Press Email it and FurSlot sends the report to the owner, with the dog's name and your shop in the subject line. It lists how the dog did, the coat and skin notes and your message. If you picked a gap, it adds the number of weeks to the next groom with a rough date worked out from today's visit. A button at the bottom opens your booking page so the owner can book that visit.

The email says your shop sent it through FurSlot. Change anything and send again, and the owner gets the new version, while the appointment shows when the report last went out. FurSlot will not send an empty report, and it waits a minute between sends so a double tap does not email twice.

Sending it as a text from your phone

For an owner with no email on file, or one who reads texts and ignores email, press Text from my phone. Your phone's messaging app opens with the report written out as one message, ending with your booking link, and you send it from your own number. It does not count against your plan's text allowance, because FurSlot is not the one sending it.

Booking the next visit before the dog leaves

The report is there to get the dog back on time. Beside it, a Book next visit link opens a new appointment on your calendar with the dog already picked and the date set the number of weeks out you recommended, or six weeks if you left it blank. Book it while the owner is at the counter and the next groom is on the calendar before they reach the car.

The Finished tab of In the Shop has a visit report button and a book next visit button on each dog done today, so you can work down the list at the end of the day. From there, the booking defaults to six weeks out. For help choosing the gap, read how often a dog should be groomed.

Things a visit report does not do

  • No photos in the email. Before and after shots stay on the dog's profile.
  • No automatic sending. You choose which dogs get a report and press send yourself.
  • No text from FurSlot's number. The text version goes from your own phone.
  • No custom moods or coat options. The choices are fixed, and your note covers anything else.
  • No reminder at the recommended date. The recommendation sits in the email, and the owner books from it.
  • No page of past reports for the owner. Each report is one email, and the appointment keeps the latest version.

Sending visit reports

Does the report go out automatically when I finish a groom?

No. Tapping Done on In the Shop marks the groom complete and, if you turned pickup texts on, texts the owner that the dog is ready, but the report waits for you. Open it from the finished dog, fill in what you want, and press Email it.

Can I send a report to a client with no email?

Yes, as a text from your own phone. Press Text from my phone and your messaging app opens with the report written out and your booking link at the end. It goes from your number, so it takes nothing from your plan's text allowance.

Can I change a report after I send it?

Yes. Change anything and send it again, and the owner gets the new version as a fresh email. The appointment keeps the latest report and the time it last went out.

What does the book-again button do?

In the email, it opens your booking page, where the owner picks a time. Inside FurSlot, Book next visit opens a new appointment with the dog picked and the date set the number of weeks out you recommended, so you can book it with the owner standing in front of you.
