Gingr is kennel software that also grooms

Gingr's own homepage describes it as software "for boarding kennels, doggy daycare, grooming salons, dog training", and its plans split the same way: Spa for groomers and trainers, Play for daycares, Stay for boarding. For a business that grooms in the morning, runs a daycare floor all day and has dogs sleeping over, that is a real strength, because one system covers all three.

Gingr is better at running a whole facility. Its pricing page lists staff management, retail management, a customer portal and a mobile app on every plan, and its grooming page offers report cards that keep pet parents informed. FurSlot has none of that, and we are not trying to add it.

FurSlot handles grooming bookings and nothing else. A client books a groom from your link at a price based on the dog's breed, and you hold their card, so a no-show costs the client instead of you.

What Gingr runs that FurSlot doesn't

Each item below appears on Gingr's own pages, and FurSlot has none of them.

• Boarding and daycare. Gingr's Play and Stay plans cover them, while FurSlot books grooms only.
• Report cards. Gingr offers report cards that keep pet parents informed. FurSlot keeps photos and notes on each pet's profile for you, but sends no report card.
• Staff management. Gingr includes it on every plan, while FurSlot's Team plan gives up to 5 groomer profiles under one login, with no staff logins, no permissions and no shared calendar.
• Retail. Gingr lists retail management; FurSlot sells nothing over a counter and has no till.
• An app. Gingr lists a mobile app on every plan. FurSlot runs in your phone's browser, and there is nothing to download for you or your clients.
• Texting back and forth. Gingr offers 2-Way SMS as an add-on to its plans. FurSlot sends reminder texts out and reads STOP and START replies, nothing else, so a client who texts back a question reaches no one.
• Marketing tools. Gingr includes them on every plan, and FurSlot sends no campaigns or bulk texts.

FurSlot also lacks some things we could not confirm on Gingr's pages, so check Gingr's feature list if any of them matter to you: repeating bookings, several dogs booked in one checkout, add-ons picked at booking, intake forms and signed waivers, packages and memberships, tipping, loyalty and gift cards, and an API or Zapier connection.

What FurSlot has that Gingr does not advertise

• Breed prices on day one. FurSlot copies 243 breeds into your account the moment you sign up, each with a groom time and a price for each service. Plenty of booking software lets you build a breed price table; FurSlot's arrives filled in, and neither Gingr's pricing page nor its grooming page advertises one.
• Quotes for mixes and matting. You can give a mix two parent breeds and FurSlot blends their time and price. If the client picks a matted coat, FurSlot books a longer slot.
• Deposits on your own Stripe. You charge deposits and no-show fees on your own Stripe account, in your business name, and FurSlot takes no percentage of a groom. Gingr has its own integrated payments, and its Stay plan costs $179 a month with them or $209 without.
• You decide on each no-show fee. With the default setting, "Ask me every time", you see the fee and the client, then confirm. You can switch a shop or a single client to "Never charge" or "Charge automatically" instead.
• One flat price. You get the full product on every plan, and plans differ only by the text segments included each month and the number of groomer profiles.
• Your data, whenever you want it. You can download clients, pets and appointments as CSV files from Settings, even on an account that has stopped paying.

Gingr's $109 entry plan next to FurSlot's

We took the Gingr figures below from Gingr's pricing page on 22 September 2026. If you work alone, you would pick FurSlot's Solo plan at $19 or Pro at $24. Team, at $49, covers up to 5 groomer profiles.

In Gingr's favour, its pricing page lists the same core features on every plan, so the extra you pay for Spa buys a bigger product, with none of the core features held back for a pricier tier.

How long setup takes

We cannot tell you how long Gingr takes to set up, and we will not repeat other people's stories about it. Gingr says on its homepage that migration help comes standard, and if you choose Gingr you should use it.

FurSlot's setup is six short screens. You fill in the first two on the signup page, before the account exists. As soon as you create the account, FurSlot copies in each breed's time and price, so your price list starts full. On the next four screens you set your service prices, bring clients over if you want to, set your hours and get your booking link.

Moving clients is optional; any client you leave out joins your list the first time they book. If you have a spreadsheet, save it as CSV and upload it. FurSlot matches the columns by name, so exports from other booking tools work in most cases. If your list is a mess, or a photo of a paper book, email it over and we type it in. Groomers who should keep Gingr

If you board, stay on Gingr. Stay too if you run a daycare floor, have staff who need their own logins, sell retail over a counter, or send report cards to owners, because FurSlot does none of those.

Does FurSlot do boarding or daycare?

No, FurSlot books grooms and nothing else, with no kennels, runs, overnight stays or daycare check-ins anywhere in it. If you board or run daycare, a kennel system such as Gingr, with its Play plan for daycares and Stay plan for boarding, is the right choice.

How long does FurSlot take to set up?

Setup is six short screens, and you finish with your booking link in hand. Each breed arrives with a time and a price already filled in, so you have no price list to build first. Bringing clients over is optional: upload a spreadsheet, email us what you have, or let each client join your list when they first book.

Can I move my Gingr data to FurSlot?

It should work if you can get a spreadsheet out of Gingr, but we have not tested a Gingr export and will not promise it. FurSlot imports a CSV file and matches columns by name, and exports from other booking tools tend to work. If the file does not line up, email it to us and we will enter your clients for you.

Is FurSlot cheaper than Gingr?

Yes, by a wide margin, but FurSlot is also a much smaller product, at $19 to $49 a month flat. Gingr's cheapest plan, Spa, was $109 a month, or $100 a month billed yearly, on its pricing page when we checked on 22 September 2026. The difference buys report cards, staff and retail tools, with daycare and boarding on Gingr's pricier Play and Stay plans, and those are only worth paying for if you use them.
